School internet access for low income areas
Education Leeds is a non-profit company, formed in April 2001 and wholly owned by Leeds City Council.
Operated under a direction from the Secretary of State for Education and Skills, Education Leeds is responsible for providing all education support services that relate to children and young people of statutory school age. FDN have been working with education Leeds on a project to provide broadband over Powerlines for educational services.
FDN were able to provide free home internet access to school pupils via a local substation in a low income area where tradional home landline systems were unaffordable.
